Game close 277 stores, Reward and Gift card payments suspended

Game recently entered administration and today they have closed 277 of their 610 stores nationwide. The figure includes Game stores and Gamestation stores and in some areas all stores have been closed. We have the full list below thanks to MCV and Retail Week which has now been organised alphabetically along with the address. The list however doesn’t specify which are Game or Gamestation stores.
Game Group file for administration

The Game Group have been having a hard time lately and it doesn’t look to be getting any better. Game has been unable to stock many new titles including EA’s Mass Effect 3 and many other suppliers have also refused to do business with Game.
Game has now had to file for administration as they need to raise £180 million, £21 million of which is for their quarterly rent bill. Around £40 million makes up their debts to suppliers.
Despite the gaming industry being the UK’s largest entertainment sector in 2011 with sales passing £1.93 billion (videos and music making £1.8 and £1.07 million respectively), Game haven’t been ale to turn their fortunes round.
Game not stocking Mass Effect 3 and future EA titles

SSX may be the last EA title Game and Gamestation stock. It has been confirmed that Game will not be releasing the highly anticipated game due to supply issues. For those who per-ordered the game, you will have the chance to have £5 worth of rewards points added to your Game loyalty card. Unfortunately it looks like Mass Effect 3 isn’t the only title that Game won’t be stocking with other titles like Fifa Street or Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 also looking unlikely to be released through the Game Group. The collectors edition of Mass Effect 3 will be available instead through other retailers such as Amazon.
SSX demo to be released tomorrow for Xbox 360 and PS3

It’s not long until EA’s SSX is released but, for those of us who can’t wait any longer (myself included), an SSX demo will be released tomorrow 21st February for Xbox 360 and for PlayStation 3 users in North America, while other countries will see the demo later in the week. The demo will let you play as Zoe and Mac will be unlockable through a referral program but, the details on that are yet to be released. There will be two tutorials you can play through as well as two events and skydiving.
2012 UK Gaming Expos

It’s not “all” about E3 when it comes to gaming expos. There’s no denying that E3 is the big gaming event of the year but, for those who live in the UK, what are the alternatives that you can actually attend? The biggest UK gaming Expo is hosted by Eurogamer and is traditionally held each year around September in London. Most gaming events in the UK take place in the capital but, again there are alternatives and there may be a gaming convention near to you.
