Good Night at the BAFTA’s for Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain won 3 awards last night.  There were other winners but I am going to focus on this one as I have played it twice and currently started a third. Heavy Rain was written and directed by Quantic Dream’s chief executive, David De Gruttola.

Heavy Rain is an interactive game and you control the outcome. There are four main playable characters. This game is definitely a bite from film noir. Ethan Mars is one of the characters who is trying to find his son from a serial killer who uses extended rain storms to kill his victims.

The other three characters are:

Crysis 2 Leaked

Posted by on Feb 24, 2011 in consoles, forums, games, gaming, life, news, Online games, PS3, Sony, Xbox 360 | 0 comments

Crysis 2 was scheduled for release on the 22nd of March, but that doesn’t mean anything to people who want a game and will release a game into the gaming world for us heathens to play ahead of time.

So a late developement build of Crysis 2 has gone up on certain sites, it includes the full game, including multiplayer.  It also includes the DRM Solidshield master key files, which only handles the online activation. No one is sure where the leak came from, but it’s especially damaging because the game is near to being declared gold and shipping to retailers.

PS3 Firmware 3.56 Includes a “Rootkit”

Well played Sony, you managed to put a root kit into your new firmeware update, that being if we actually updated our console. I myself will be staying on 3.41. It’s been reported that CFW disables your blu-ray play back.

Back to the rootkit though their own “rootkit” so to speak, which allows them, being Sony to execute remote code upon login. What code exactly? Well that can range from confirming system files, detecting custom firmware to searching for any installed homebrew that you may have put on. It’s rumoured that they will be able to “kill” your console but that has yet to be seen.

Pixel Force Halo Released Today

As promised, Eric Ruth’s highly-anticipated Bungie-inspired demake, Pixel Force Halo, has now arrived! Originally announced back in December, Eric’s Contra-esque platformer is available on PC for free download now.

He has also created Left for Dead and DJ Hero in 8bit, which I am sure if you are like me and know how to use google you can find them all. Eric also has something coming out in the Spring but he wouldn’t say what it was but here’s a quote that is making me wonder what else he could mastermind in 8bit?

The Grateful Dead Get A Videogame

I don’t know about y’all but this is the most exciting video game news I have heard in a year. You can tell I like the Grateful Dead already? Well I do, they play music like I play video games, with reckless abandonment and somehow it turns out in a positive light.

The surviving band members gave the project their blessing, but the agreement was brokered by Rhino Entertainment, the Warner Music Group subsidiary that has managed all of the band’s intellectual property since 2006.

“We can’t wait for everyone check out the fun new toys we are building,” said David Lemieux, the band’s longtime archivist, in a statement.
