Epic Games and Microsoft have announced that Gears of War 3 will no longer be released next April, with the company deciding to bring the game out in the autumn of 2011 instead.
The Xbox 360 exclusive was due for release on the 8th of April 2011 but, the latest release date of ‘fall 2011’ is a lot less defined and leaves us to wonder when we will actually see Gears of War 3. Epic Games are keen to let gamers know that the delay is purely for business reasons, not due to development issues, although they are also keen to reiterate that the game will be more ‘polished’ because of the delay.
In the press release by Epic, they claim that Gears of War 3 “promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011”. Something we agree with wholeheartedly. Epic also indicated that they are targetting the release of the game so as to hit the holiday season full on and that they hope fans aren’t too disappointed with the news of a delay in release of the game:
The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the spring of 2011. However, we’ve elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season.
Better news for Gears fans is that Epic have announced that there will be a preview of the preview of the Gears of War 3 multiplayer versus mode next week, in an event held at Epic headquarters.
A possible 5 month extra wait for the game is frustrating, are you disappointed with the delay? Let us know your thoughts on the news.
Personally, this girl gamer is fine with the delay. Totally fine. Really, it’s fine. Now, where did I put my chainsaw?!
