Two new trilogy game sets are making their way to Sony’s PS3 this November. First up we have the Mass Effect trilogy. Mass Effect 2 and 3 were both released on the PS3 but, the original Mass Effect game that started it all off was an Xbox 360 exclusive and as of yet has not been made available to PS3 owners. Come November 7th however, you will now be able to finally play the first Mass Effect game. As well as making the game available in this trilogy box set, the game will also go up on the PlayStation Network for download. The launch coincides with the first annual “N7 Day”, which is a worldwide celebration for the Mass Effect franchise. Will you be celebrating N7 Day on November 7th by playing the first Mass Effect game?
On Monday we reported that EA’s SSX would have a demo released the following day for North America PS3 owners with Europeans having to wait until later in the week. The demo was also stated to arrive on Xbox 360 but, at the time it was unknown whether it would only be available to those with Gold Live accounts.
With the demo now out on Xbox Live, we can now confirm that yes, you do need to have Xbox Live Gold member status to download the demo. If you haven’t got Gold already, Microsoft have an offer on where you can get 2 months Gold for £2. Which, if you can’t wait until release day to try the game, is a really good deal, especially as 48 hour trial codes unfortunately don’t allow you to download the demo.
It’s not long until EA’s SSX is released but, for those of us who can’t wait any longer (myself included), an SSX demo will be released tomorrow 21st February for Xbox 360 and for PlayStation 3 users in North America, while other countries will see the demo later in the week. The demo will let you play as Zoe and Mac will be unlockable through a referral program but, the details on that are yet to be released. There will be two tutorials you can play through as well as two events and skydiving.
UK Supermarket Morrisons have reduced the price of the Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in a bid to clear out excess stock left over from Christmas.
The offer allegedly runs for three weeks or until stock runs out which is quite likely to be far less than three weeks. The sale prices are listed below:
PS3 slim 160GB – £150
PS3 250GB with Karate Kid Blu-Ray – £200
Wii – £85
Wii Mario Kart bundle – £85
Xbox 360 4GB + Kinect £185
Xbox 360 250GB £150
To avoid disappointment, it’s best to ring your local store to see if they have any consoles left in stock.
Following on from their recent Xbox 360 promotion, retailer Zavvi are now offering selected PS3 titles at a discounted price on their eBay outlet store.
Titles such as Flashpoint: Red River, Homefront, Prince of Persia Trilogy, 007: Blood Stone and Yoostar 2: In the Movies are available at £9.99 which includes shipping which, on some of the games available, compared to the prices of some of the titles in other UK stores, is a bit of a bargain.

Earlier this year, Sega announced that they would be bringing Sonic CD to the Xbox 360, PS3 as well as mobile devices. It was speculated that Sega would release the game in time for the festive period and that has rung true.

Sonic CD was set to be released on iOS and Android in early 2012 but, Sega have gifted mobile gamers with an early release. The game is now available on the iTunes store for £1.49 or on Android for £1.29. Not only that but, for Xperia Play owners, the game has been optimized for use with the PlayStation controls.

Most of the Sonic games have been re-released other the years on various platforms, as part of compilations or stand alone downloads. On the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the original Sonic the hedgehog is available to download, as well as Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles and the 2011 Sonic game, Sonic the hedgehog 4: Episode 1. One game that always seems to be missed from these releases has been Sonic CD. For all those who have been waiting for Sega to release Sonic CD on the PS3 or Xbox 360, there’s good news. Sega have announced that they plan to convert the Mega CD classic for release on Xbox Live, PSN, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Windows Phone 7, Android and Windows PC Digital Download. At the moment, it doesn’t look like Sega will be bringing the game to the Wii.
To kick start Sonic’s 20th anniversary, Sega have released a trailer for a new Sonic game. Sonic the hedgehog 4 Episode 2 should be released this year, the sequel to Sonic 4 Episode 1 which was released in October last year. However this trailer doesn’t look like Episode 2 of Sonic 4 but, rather a new game entirely. Speculation is that the game may see retro sonic go head to head with next gen sonic, or both of them working together. What are your thoughts? Check out the trailer below.
