Sega announce Sonic CD release

Most of the Sonic games have been re-released other the years on various platforms, as part of compilations or stand alone downloads. On the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the original Sonic the hedgehog is available to download, as well as Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles and the 2011 Sonic game, Sonic the hedgehog 4: Episode 1. One game that always seems to be missed from these releases has been Sonic CD. For all those who have been waiting for Sega to release Sonic CD on the PS3 or Xbox 360, there’s good news. Happy birthday Sonic

On June 23rd 1991, we saw Sonic the Hedgehog make his debut on the Sega Master System. Since then a plethora of games have been released, including Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Adventures and more recently Sonic 4. Admittedly not all of the Sonic games have been great but, because of his very first game Sonic has a strong following. Last year we saw Sonic 4 Part 1 released which is one of best Sonic games to be released in quite a few years and this year we will see Sonic Generations. Sega will bring the old school Sonic from 1991 together with the modern day Sonic.

Sega release trailer for new Sonic game

To kick start Sonic’s 20th anniversary, Sega have released a trailer for a new Sonic game. Sonic the hedgehog 4 Episode 2 should be released this year, the sequel to Sonic 4 Episode 1 which was released in October last year. However this trailer doesn’t look like Episode 2 of Sonic 4 but, rather a new game entirely. Speculation is that the game may see retro sonic go head to head with next gen sonic, or both of them working together. What are your thoughts? Check out the trailer below.
