Switch to local currency from Microsoft points increases price of content

With the iteration of the next generation Xbox, the Xbox One and the upcoming dashboard release, Microsoft will be switching from Microsoft Points for purchases to real currency. Whilst this means you will know how much the next Call of Duty map pack is really going to cost you, it already appears to have its downsides.

Those who signed up to beta test Microsoft’s latest dashboard for the Xbox 360 have found that their Microsoft points aren’t worth as much as they used to be. For example, the recently released Walking Dead 400 Days is available to buy for 400 points on the current dashboard and via the Xbox website. However on the beta dashboard, content that costs 400 MSP will cost £4.49. Unfortunately those 400 points you may have had on your account however, are now only worth around £3.33.

Deal of the day: Fable 3 free

Currently Fable 3 is on offer on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Normally the digital download costs $19.99 for the full game download. Today the game has been spotted as free. There’s no indication of how long this offer will be on so you should be quick to download it. You will need to be an Xbox Gold member to download the game for free though and 48 hour trials do not work according to reports.

SSX Demo released in Europe for PS3 owners

On Monday we reported that EA’s SSX would have a demo released the following day for North America PS3 owners with Europeans having to wait until later in the week. The demo was also stated to arrive on Xbox 360 but, at the time it was unknown whether it would only be available to those with Gold Live accounts.

With the demo now out on Xbox Live, we can now confirm that yes, you do need to have Xbox Live Gold member status to download the demo. If you haven’t got Gold already, Microsoft have an offer on where you can get 2 months Gold for £2. Which, if you can’t wait until release day to try the game, is a really good deal, especially as 48 hour trial codes unfortunately don’t allow you to download the demo.

SSX demo to be released tomorrow for Xbox 360 and PS3

It’s not long until EA’s SSX is released but, for those of us who can’t wait any longer (myself included), an SSX demo will be released tomorrow 21st February for Xbox 360 and for PlayStation 3 users in North America, while other countries will see the demo later in the week. The demo will let you play as Zoe and Mac will be unlockable through a referral program but, the details on that are yet to be released. There will be two tutorials you can play through as well as two events and skydiving.

Earlier this year, Sega announced that they would be bringing Sonic CD to the Xbox 360, PS3 as well as mobile devices. It was speculated that Sega would release the game in time for the festive period and that has rung true.

Sega have released Sonic CD on the Xbox 360 for 400 Microsoft points and will be released on the PS3 on December 20th. The price for PS3 owners is currently unknown but, is likely to be around £3. Sonic CD was set to be released on iOS and Android in early 2012 but, Sega have gifted mobile gamers with an early release. The game is now available on the iTunes store for £1.49 or on Android for £1.29. Not only that but, for Xperia Play owners, the game has been optimized for use with the PlayStation controls.

Just Dance 3 reviewed for Xbox Kinect

We first saw Just Dance on the Nintendo Wii, which was subsequently followed by Just Dance 2, also a Nintendo Wii exclusive game. Just Dance 3 however changes all of that. For the first time ever, a Just Dance game is no longer a Wii exclusive.

Ubisoft have released Just Dance 3 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. The Wii version again makes use of the Wii remote and Kinect and PS Move make it possible on the Xbox 360 and PlayStaion 3. We will be reviewing the Xbox 360 Kinect version of the game, which I’ve been playing for the past few days.

Just Dance competition to meet Katy Perry

Ubisoft have announced that Just Dance 3 will be a sponsor of Katy Perry’s upcoming UK tour, California Dreams. To highlight the sponsorship, the “Just Dance Your Way to Katy Perry” competition has been launched. Four winners will receive VIP tickets as well as have the chance to meet Katy Perry. In order to enter, you need to video yourself dancing to Firework by Katy Perry on Just Dance 2. Firework is a downloadable track on Just Dance 2 which is free to download from the Just Dance Store – available from the main menu of the game. Alternatively if you don’t own a Nintendo Wii or the game, you can also enter by using the “Just Dance 2 Free Katy Perry DLC” clip on YouTube. For full details on how to enter and submit your video, head on over to the Just Dance Facebook page.
